Courage

I was watching OWN (Oprah's network) yesterday and she was interviewing Maya Angelou. Maya Angelou is an amazing woman. Not only is she intelligent and a great writer, she is also strong and influential. There are so many powerful things that she has said:
  • When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time
  • People will forget what you said, what you did, but people will not forget how you made them feel
In her interview with Oprah, Maya Angelou talked about virtues and she said the most important one is courage. "Courage: the most important of all the virtues because without courage, you can't practice any other virtue consistently."

Courage, as defined by Webster, is the mental or moral strength to venture, persevere and withstand danger, fear or difficulty.

I never really think about courage, being courageous, and how important that is. How often would we do more if we had the courage to do it? What would you do if you pushed past your fears and worked for it anyway? What does it mean for YOU to be courageous?

How does one become courageous? Maya tells us to break it down. If you were going to run a 5k, would you train and increase how far you run little by little, of course you would. Courage, real courage and standing for what you believe in no matter what, takes this same mind set.

How will you be courageous
